Situational analysis is one of the stages of strategic planning. It is the thorough analysis of the internal and general environment, which results in defining the strengths and weaknesses, risks and additional opportunities for an organization in the course of particular events. The outcome of the situational analysis could be the choice of one of the alternative development strategies or strategies of attaining goals.

Examples:

International women’s rights center “La Strada – Ukraine” in collaboration with the Centre for Social Expertise of the Institute of Sociology NAS of Ukraine, Criminological Association of Ukraine and Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs conducted the situational analysis of children’s sex tourism on the eve of Euro-2012 in Ukraine. The results of the study became the basis for the development of recommendations concerning reduction of the risk of children’s sex tourism spreading.
