Significant practical experience has been gained in the sphere of HIV/AIDS prevention. Despite this fact, a survey, which was held among young people in educational institutions in Ukraine, within the framework of the international project (“Health behaviour school-aged children” – HBSC – «Health and Behavioural Orientations of Schoolchildren and Students,” held in 2010 in Ukraine), showed that only 30% of students believe that their behaviour can lead to HIV infection. Nearly a third of students who have early sexual relations (aged under 15), believe that they do not run the risk of getting HIV infected. The same opinion was expressed by 27% of students who did not use a condom during their last sexual contact.
According to the regional project on HIV/AIDS data triangulation in Kyiv (2015), the number of registered cases of HIV infection caused by sexual infection in 2012 for the first time exceeded the number of cases of parenteral infection. Based on this, it is still topical to continue current education in educational establishments to teach young people to have responsible attitude towards their health, to increase the knowledge on HIV protection, to provide sexual education.
