The development of the on-line version of the course “Adolescents’ HIV testing: educational materials for youth work specialists” has been finished. This on-line course will provide everybody interested in the matter with the opportunity for self-study as well as for the organization and monitoring of personnel’s education.
Stage-by-stage behavioral consultations have proved to be an effective method of risk behavior level decreasing, in particular, among teenagers. This technique leads to sustainable changes in adolescent’s behavior. The reason for this is that the technique considers the factors, determining the behavior of a particular teenager. The course would be very helpful in acquiring the skills of stage-by-stage application of this technique.
The course was created on the basis of ICATT (Integrated Computerized Adaptation and Training Tool) developed by the Department of Child and Adolescent Health and Development of the World Health Organization (WHO-CAH), Geneva, Switzerland, and Novartis Foundation for Sustainable Development (NFSD), Basel, Switzerland. The ICATT is the innovative computer application providing support for WHO/UNICEF strategy of the Integrated Management of the Childhood Illnesses.
This educational module of the ICATT was adapted by the Ukrainian Institute of Social Studies of A. Yaremenko under the technical support of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Ukraine.
